The Madison Chamber of Commerce seeks to promote economic development and tourism in the Madison area. Area Business Madison has many area businesses that help provide a life-line for residents and visitors. Two local banks provide for the banking needs of the people of Madison and other surrounding communities. Madison boasts one full service auto service station (gas, oil, tires, etc), one gas station/convenience store, an auto repair shop, an auto body shop, a machine shop, as well as, two oilfield supply stores and numerous oilfield service companies. Madison is also home to ABZ Valve, world-wide manufacturer and distributor of butterfly valves and controls. Madison also has a full service feed, grain elevator, fertilizer, & agricultural supply business. Kansas Maid, producer of Butter Braid frozen pastries is located east of town close to the Number Eight School House. Madison has a bar and grill, a liquor store, and a grocery store. There is also a mini-mall that offers a variety of clothes, souvenirs, hardware, and gift items. It has been said, "If you can't find it at the mini mall, you don't need it!" Madison has a full-time physician that assists area residents and visitors with their medical needs. There is a modern Laundromat with dry cleaning and laundering services available. A locally owned newspaper, which is published weekly, keeps us informed on area events. Madison also has an independently owned telephone company that offers local and long distance service, cellular sales and service, and dial-up and DSL Internet services. Some of the other local businesses include several specialty trade and building contractors, an attorney, an accounting firm, custom embroidery, hair salons, backhoe operators, a beauty salon, two tanning facilities, a storage facility, and a funeral home. The newest addition to Madison's commercial center is an athletic club. |
