Text Box: The Madison-Virgil school system (USD 386) employs more than 50 people at both, the elementary and high school. Pre-school and Kindergarten are also available to area residents. The Madison-Virgil school system built a new outdoor sports complex south of the high school which was completed in 2003. The first home football game was on September 5th, 2003 was played on the new field. 
The Madison Public Library is open five days a week and has a wide variety of books, periodicals, and resource material. A Community Building that includes the Library has been built. The Madison City Park offers two ball diamonds, a play ground, shelter house and a new swimming pool, with an additional ball park on west Lincoln Street at the top of the hill. Just south of Madison is a beautiful city lake that is both our source of water and recreation, including camper hook-ups, fishing and boating. The Madison Golf Club offers a nine hole grass green course and club house with golf cart rental available. Lazy D Outfitters, southeast of Madison, offers many hunting excursion packages.
